| Expectations for 2013 |
to identify themes of great interest to members, with a view to enhancing the knowledge of environmental issues and improving business development between the United Kingdom and Brazil. |
| Challenge |
To foster a better understanding of the environment and the consequent adaptation of commercial and industrial activities to environmental issues. To connect potential areas of interest between members’ various institutional profiles with current environmental issues and the actors, regulations, opportunities and risks involved. |
| Frequency |
The promotion of quarterly seminars along with information and meetings on specific topics according to demand. |
| Target Audience |
Businesses, lawyers, environmental consultants, public-sector representatives, non-governmental organisations and financial institutions. |
| Themes |
As environmental issues are multidisciplinary in nature, themes related to national environmental policies, energy, sanitation, climate change, forest conservation, socio-environmental risks, environmental monitoring and licencing may be dealt with, both in terms of technical and legal questions, in harmony with members’ profiles and areas of interest. |
| Events and Seminars |
Formats according to specific themes, such as breakfasts, lunches or happy hours – always in keeping with participants’ interests. |
| Networking Opportunities |
Participation in the committee will provide members with the possibility to debate with various sectors in the environmental field, fostering a wider understanding of the topics proposed. The exchange of experiences and updating of the most relevant themes will provide the guiding principles of the Environment Committee. |
| Member benefits |
Knowledge and a deeper understanding of environmental topics with an aim to updating and strengthening business strategies. High-quality interaction with other sectors, allowing for the development of business opportunities for the Brazilian and British business communities. |
| 2012 Events |
With the establishment of the committee, getting to know the profiles of the member bodies and the experience of other committees. Holding the Environment Committee’s inaugural meeting in Rio de Janeiro will be, in our opinion, the first step on a route to success.
